ALUMNI PICNIC - SEPTEMBER 14, 2024 (10AM - 7PM)
Please reach us at ehsgrandalumni@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The EHSGAA hosts an annual picnic for all alumni and friends the second Saturday in September every year. The alumni week of events start the Sunday before. The picnic is currently held at Ensley Park, 2800 Avenue K, Birmingham, AL 35218.
To better coordinate numerous events in line with EHSGAA's mission, we require event organizers to fill out an Event Request Form. Failure to complete the form and honor your donation commitment will prevent you from promoting your event on the EHSGAA Facebook page, it will not be featured in the list of events on our website AND your event will not be deemed a part of an officially approved alumni week event.
The picnic is held at a public park; therefore, there is no cost to attend. However, there is a donation fee for classes, families and/or groups to participate (e.g. set up a tent). Each year, the donations are evaluated and communicated to the alumni. The donation for 2024 is $175 per class/group. In the event you are considering combining with another class, please note if there are a minimum of 10 people from each class, a donation must be paid for each class represented.
Participants can pay their picnic fee via cash app by clicking here. If an additional payment option is needed, please send an email to ehsgrandalumni@gmail.com.
Picnic fees are non-refundable.
The picnic is from 10am - 7pm. All guests must exit the park by 8pm.
Set up is from 8am - 10am. All vehicles must be off the picnic grounds/grass and moved to designated parking spaces by 10am.
If you are a participant, you must break down and clean up your picnic site by 7pm.
Paying your picnic fee only secures your participation. However, designated spots at the park are on a first come/first serve basis. Essentially, "the early bird gets the worm".
If a class is celebrating their milestone reunion (e.g. 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, etc), then it's first request, first honored. In other words, your class must submit an email request to ehsgrandalumni@gmail.com for use of the pavilion and pay the picnic fee in advance to secure its use. If your class fails to pay the picnic fee, it is available to any other class that is celebrating an anniversary that has also requested the pavilion. If no class that is celebrating a milestone reunion has reserved the pavilion, then the pavilion is fair game to any class or group, that has paid their picnic fee, on a "first come, first served" basis during setup at the picnic.
No. There is a no-vendor policy at the picnic. This rule is strictly enforced.
